Previously I have written about the differences in contact and private study hours across subjects taught in English universities. I also mentioned the mountain of salt with which these surveys need to be taken. Today’s Education Guardian and BBC education pages report on a similar survey looking at hours spent studying across Europe. Is this the case of another survey, another mountain of salt? (more…)

There is much archaeology in the news today. Archaeologists from Nottingham University think they have discovered a Viking long ship buried under a pub in Liverpool through using GPR equipment. Meanwhile, archaeologists in Jerusalem claim to have found drainage channels that were used by the Jews to escape the Romans in the first century AD.
